“If your vision for life is bigger than the next person you meet, it’s too big!”
An old buddy of mine use to tell me this all the time and I’m really beginning to wonder if it’s true or not. What do you think?

Just to clarify: did your friend mean, “If your vision for life is bigger than the life vision of the next person you meet, it’s too big”?
I would argue that life visions are relative. They often vary based on our stages of maturity, personality, skills, etc. Plus, the L-rd sometimes unfolds over time more details of what our life vision should be.

Jenn – I think what it means is that if your vision for your life is bigger than the next person you spend time with, then its too big. This is exactly what I disagree with because big life vision is a good thing. I agree with you that life visions are totally relative. I think what we get hung up on the most is how we pursue those life visions. We have to pursue them with an understanding of the life God rewards, i.e., living in agreement with the Sermon on the Mount lifestyle.
Also, this friend of mine is a counselor, so he has a bias towards pastoral/sheperding ministry. We should all have some of this in us but it’s not everyone’s primary role. Make sense?
